What a great time for a book publication! It was never planned, but when AMP told me that 30th November would be the publication date for In Green Pastures, I was delighted. Just in time for friends and family to buy it to read over Christmas, or to give as presents!
Of course, as an author you only get to know about who’s bought it if they tell you, and, reading between the lines, there seems to be quite a lot of IGP-buying going on out there, if feedback from friends and acquaintances can be relied upon. Brilliant! Bring it on!
What’s more, the reviews people have written have been particularly pleasing. And interestingly, some of my readers have identified themes and issues within the story that I hadn’t realised would strike such a chord. When I gave a copy to one reviewer, even as she accepted it, she said to herself: ‘What more is there to say about World War 1? It’s all been done.’ But after she had read IGP, she congratulated me that I had indeed found an angle in the storytelling about the war and its effects on those involved that she had not come across before…it is an aspect of the story that I personally cherish.
But I’m not going to tell you what it is – that would be a spoiler! You’ll have to read it for yourself to find out what it is. And who knows? You might discover other facets of the tale that resonate with you as a reader.
I’m thrilled with what people are saying about my work. After living so long with IGP and seeing the novel through to publication, I find prospects for the future exciting – both in terms of where the book might take me…And what might come next!
