INTO 2021: IN GREEN PASTURES – THE WORD IS SPREADING

So! New Year, new opportunities to get everyone talking about In Green Pastures. I feel the ripples spreading and positive comments are coming my way from far and near – that’s exactly what I need!

I know it’s a bit cheeky, but what the heck? I thought I’d use the annual chore of Christmas-card-sending as a marketing opportunity, so I enclosed one of those good A5 flyers from AM with many cards I sent out. – well, why not?

And yesterday I had a lovely surprise: Sue A, a lady I met years ago when we both started work for BP at the age of 17, texted to tell me …Yes! You’re there before me!…she’s read IGP and really loved it. I haven’t seen Sue for about 20 years, but now we’ve vowed to get together again as soon as the pandemic restrictions ease and some sense of normality returns.

Silver linings!

I’ve now clocked up 11 really wonderful reviews from early readers of In Green Pastures on my page of the Austin Macauley website with an average of 4.8 stars. But I’m also accumulating email comments which are worth sharing: English teacher Carolyn describes my ‘lovely cast of characters and…portrayal of life on the farm [which] was particularly evocative’ adding up to ‘a really authentic flavour’. My doctor friend Richard said ‘…what was most impressive was how you allowed the characters to emerge from the nature of the dialogue. For a first time novelist, that is quite a feat. I am in awe.’

Ooh!

Just yesterday Janie emailed saying how much she was enjoying IGP. ‘It is a lovely read and I find I can identify with the characters. On Friday we have our Zoom Book Group meeting and I will recommend it to them.’ Thanks, Janie, you’re a star!
